Helped Terry move most of his smaller boxes to his new house today, which is a pretty nice place. Its a 3 bedroom house with a granny unit in back near downtown on a cul-de-sac. He’ll be living there with his daughter when she comes into town and I believe he will be moving in next week some time.
I’ll miss living next to Terry, it’s always nice to just walk 10 feet and chat with him or escort him out onto the street for his numerous smoke breaks (he needs to quit again dammit!) He will be about 5 minutes away which ain’t bad, but there’s nothing like walking a few feet over to your neighbors house, who happens to be your business partner, and have a impromptu meeting. Damn convenient!
After my meeting, Wilbur and I dropped by Home Depot (or as I like to call it Home Despot) and picked up an ass load of hardware so that we can put together the long awaited “track dolly” for stopmotion filming. The track dolly will let me take smooth, consistent tuck/chase/pan shots with the camera so I can get some really dynamic looking scenes.
The dolly is basically a set of two poles running parallel with a platform that rests on top with skateboard wheels for the movement. The platform is connected to a piece of threaded rod that, when I crank the handle at the end, will move the platform consistently down the track. Each rotation of the handle should give me about 1/4″ of movement which I think should be about perfect to get a nice smooth motion.
We’ll be setting this bad boy up in the next few days when we’ve got the time but we’ve got all the parts (I hope!) to finish the dolly and a pretty damn good idea of how to build it (thanks Internet!)
After the store I came back home and cranked out some lines of code to keep the powers that be happy and then went out to Wednesday Night Market where I met up with Shelley and Maria. We all met at the Beaver St. house and sat around chatting for a while. After one unsuccessful game of beer pong with Brandon, Alvarez came by and we all headed out to Maria’s house – me on my bike, and them in the car. Maria’s house was laid back, we all shot the shit and smoked some hookah and planned out our camping situation for the Health and Harmony Festival. After compiling an admittedly kick ass list of things to pack, I headed back home and called it a night.
Until next time!
